My judgement comes
And my cards read blank;
Today is the Apocalypse,
Come Hell or high water.
I stand before my master
With no weapon in hand,
I look up towards the Heavens
To deliver me from this.
All is dark, faces are stern,
Cold hands grab at me
From every angle
As I shrink back in fear.
I fight back the tears
As the gavel comes down
And the hands grab me;
I am taken away
Into a darker room
And left alone.
What happened, who knows.
I look around, as if I can see,
The darkness piercing me;
It is done.

I found this to be fascinating. I love it really. It is just total despair and hopelessness in poetry. You have done a wonderful job of getting these emotions across. (I just love John Saul) this reminds me some of reading his horror stories. I hope that "You" don't really feel this lost, and were just getting into character here. Hugs, Penny

This is an excellent poem. Very dark and ominous. And, I might say, an eye opener! Hugs, Patricia
