Masks

How did you strip away my mask,
and see me for who I am?
I thought I hid it fairly well,
but all it took was one look.

With one look you could see the pain,
the pain I was trying to hide.
Pain of a lost love,
the pain of watching another die.

A lifetime of sorrow,
for one so young.

But with that one look,
you melted my mask,
there's nothing I can hide from you,
nothing I want to hide.

Author notes

Im not sure I like this one... had the idea rattling in my head driving me nuts so I had to get it onto paper.
