Stars of snow with hearts of pink
Dancing o'er the rain soaked streets
Let fall your innocent petals
Fragrant fairies flitting round
The muddled huddled masses
Trudging through springs new mud
Kiss my brow with memory
Carried on the wind's own wings
Remnants of the child inside the man
Weep at the sheer beauty
Barren branches bedecked with garlands
Of vernal blossoms, a May crown for the city
Come the waning gold of autumn
With it's gaudy glamor bold
When the harvest moon hangs low
Pregnant with September's child
There will be vermilion midst your
Browning jade
Nothing compares to the simple pleasures
Of bough and limb
Limned with tiny cherubs
That will later become
The true treasure of the grove
All hail the humble apple tree
Author notes
This came to me, mostly because I am a bit homesick for spring in the northeast, when everything just bursts into life, and apple blossoms have always been one of my favorite things about spring...enjoy and thank you for asking me to enter.

your imagery is nothing short of stunning....finding ways to describe natures beauty without becoming cliche is very difficult...but you have more than succeeded....it is a dream ...a sheer pleasure to read....this contest will be hell to judge!...thank you for this piece of bliss....leanne xxx

Your imagery shone through brilliantly...This has a nice flow to it making it a pleasure to read...I am in the northeast and I know what you mean...I look forward to Spring each and every year with all the flowers and blossoms...Truly a beautiful awakening.

AWSOME!
This is absolutely STUNNUNG! I love your vivid imagery and the way you portray it. Fairies, gnomes, etc.... are very much a part of my fav's, as well. The "fantasy feel" works so well here. Flowing ever so nicely, it's both easy and pleasuable to read. Being a nature nut myself, I'm adding this one and you to my fav's list!
Very well done!!
