Why would you want to be a common
ordinary rose?
It’s beauty often seems aloof
and midst sharp thorns it grows.
Better to be a flower
that clusters on a stem.
Sometimes like friends they lean on you;
sometimes you lean on them.
I know that life can give you shit
but without compost you’ll never thrive.
So till the soil of your soul
and work to keep your dreams alive.
When weeds grow in your shadow
it’s hard to pull them out.
And sometimes only the tears you cry
can save you from a drought.
Tend your garden lovingly
and let others lend a hand.
Some magnificent buds are overlooked
by those who find them bland.
Let your petals open
and embrace the warmth of day.
Why be a single flower
when you can be a whole bouquet?

Beautiful. sounded very hopeful and that seems rare nowadays. I really liked this verse:
When weeds grow in your shadow
it’s hard to pull them out.
And sometimes only the tears you cry
can save you from a drought.
Really gives one a new outlook on life. -
This is beautiful. I must go and bookmark the contest, as sara is very near and dear to my heart. a beautiful tribute here

how tender and beautiful to be graced with the gift of petals in the dawn of many colors such as the bouquet so well described here in her soul rather than a single rose and a thorn in someones side, LOL
all pun aside this is a marvelous write
