Baby Sister

Sweet baby sister,
  Caught in passion’s plight;
     Saw her love say,
        “I’m sorry, good night.”

So for just now,
  A season is ended;
     To the Lord you go,
        Your heart to be tended.

Be welcome home
  To a Father most kind;
     See how you are
        Still on His mind.

Behold the One
  In heaven, for you;
     Unlike the others,
        His love stays true.

He’ll dress you with joy,
  And take your grief;
     He’ll give your eyes
        Such peaceful sleep.

Reminds you His promises,
  All “yes”, and “amen”;
     And shows how His grace
        Continues to send.

By His great mercy,
  You’re not consumed;
     He sets you in a clearing,
       With so much room.

Go to Him, daughter,
  With your sad plight;
     He’ll never tell you,
        “I’m sorry, good night.”

Author notes

For a certain sister in the Lord, who had to see a love come to an end (She knows who she is). I don't claim to know what happened, but I'm sure it was difficult.

Sis, my verses for you, concerning this poem are these:

"Through the LORD's mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not."--Lamentations 3:22

"For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us."--2 Corinthians 1:20

"Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you.'"--Hebrews 13:5

Be blessed, sis!

    Ash had told me that you had this posted and I finally got on long enough to read some poems (she "hogs" the puter when she's here) I was very touched by this admonishment for her. Mom's hate to see their children hurt. I just thank the Lord for preparing the right one for her. Again, lovely write as usual. The Lord Bless you!

    This is so beautiful and right. Though I havn't lost a love I've fallen over yet again so this is very encouraging to me. Especially the added Bible verses, thanks for reminding me of God's great mercy and compassion.

    Robert-i cant even begin to tell you about my last couple of days and how this is so timely! God has used you to show me His love for me and the truth you speak of is more than encouraging and penetrates my soul, ecspecially during this time
    You said you felt like you should pray for me the other night
    and today i have been oppressed for some reason-my mom prayed over me and then to come home to this is such a blessing

    thank you for being a servant of the Lord

    love your sister in Christ
