A tree of thorns, bleak and bare
Brings out a flower, beauty so rare
A rose! Colour of Blood
Peeping through the thorns it stood
Perfectly formed a magnificent sight
A princess in velvet, through the sunlight
The petals open up like youth in bloom
Blossoming in the warmth - shutting out the gloom
A raindrop falls like a gentle tear
Settles on the petal, without any fear
A perfume arises from the midst of this flower
A scent that lingers hour after hour
Gods Gift of life in a certain pose
How Beautiful, How sensuous,
A perfect Rose!

A great tribute to a rose! one of the most celebrated flowers throughout time, the most proper offering between lovers and for mothers, unmistakable with an aroma like no other. A great offering!

I just adore the phrase "A princess in velvet" What a lovely and unusual rhyme!

This is a gentle tribute to all beauty has
to offer us. It speaks clearly and yet can
be taken metaphorically or literally. Well-done!

what a graceful tribute to the queen of all flowers (although all flowers are queens to me
) ... a true gem of beauty, which can be taken literally or interpreted metaphorically ... both ways, it is a joy to read and to behold ...
thank you for presenting your wonderful verse in susan's contest ...
much love,

maa

excellent
You have a rare talent, you have been able to capyure so magnificent that many try to capture but cannot. you words gave the poem a new lease of life, it is very sweet to read. The flow was excellent and the the rhyming was good not forced. i hope you write more and read more of your works.
i did write something about a rose called "a flower for you" or something like that you might want to check it if you don't mind. -
This was very well done. I enjoyed it; But I must ask you to follow the rules. you need to comment on another entry and on someone from the list I put up. I will be checking and since the contest will be ending tomorrow, I would hate to have to disqualify more people than I am already going to have to. I enjoyed reading this and I think you did very well on it; it would be a shame if you were disqualified. Also, what option did you choose? Anyways, thanks for entering; it was great!
Hugs
Jess
