Woman

A scene in a movie
A face on the screen
Their sexy smiles
All floated in my dreams
Women

At 16, I finally realized
That I had a crush on her
Everything about her was pure poetry
Her smile, her laugh and her embrace.
Woman

My best friend in all the world
Had no clue that she had affected me
That just the touch of her hand
Made my heart soar
Woman

The courage was gathered
And all was risked
Just to speak the words
“I love you.” Out loud
Woman

With baited breath
I awaited your response.
When that sexy smile came
And you said, “Thank you.”
Woman

You are still so beautiful to me
Our friendship is special
You still love me
And I love you always.
Woman

Their faces float across the screen
They seduce me with their smiles
The curve of their lips
And the sound of their laughter
Women

This is a beautiful love poem! Your unique form reminds me of a warm, loving embrace. You begin and end with a generalized reference to all women and how they affect you. I commend you for the tasteful and respectful manner you use to convey the sensuality of your attraction! Wrapped within your generalizations you speak of and to only one woman as if amid the sea of available stimuli she is the focus of your attention, your one true love. Also, it lends movement and a storyline as you move from a growing tendency to notice women to a fixation on that special ONE. When it doesn't go quite as you hoped, you view it with mature acceptance, remain close friends, and move on with an expectant heart, back out into a world of infinite possibilities. This is an incredibly tender and candid piece, wonderfully written. Thank you for sharing such an honest, personal and hope-filled write. I wish you luck in the contest! Sheryl

This is a beautiful story, and it's wonderful that she is stil your best friend. In my opinion, friends that drop you for your sexuality are the worst in the world sigh but sometimes that's how it is well done on a beautiful write

This remids me of a time when I had a thing for one of my friends...I told her about a dream I had, but I didn't tell her that I had a thing for her...I was too afraid. Anyway, nicely written. I love the subject and imagery.

This is beautiful...First the graphic is wonderful! The way you truly put your heart into this write is so admirable...I am glad you retained your best friend as that is something that is so hard when you make such a declaration...You truly risk all, but in life, some risks are important to take...My best to you and congratulations on a superb write.

    Rainbow star stickers!

That's amazing! the thought you must have poured into this...it amazes me! My best friend who sees me as the 'woman' of your poem flirts with me all the time, so, i'm seeing this from the other side of the window. A great write! (and a great picture/animation, too!)
