Silence

Silence
Aug 20, 2003

Silence...

quietly sings
breathes peace
frees thought
brings release

Silence...

connects one
to the source
allows unity
guides course

Silence...

relaxes mind
clears chatter
relieves worry
so fears shatter

Silence...

charges soul
renews self
taps knowledge
of innate wealth

Author notes

This poem is about silencing your mind.  I have found the silence enables me to do all of what the poem describes.  Blessed Silence, thank you.  peace

Love the structure of this, and how it's like breathing, the soft inhale and the release in the exhale. Incredibly calming, by describing the feeling it's as if you've passed it on to the reader through the use of form and vocabularly. And it makes a pleasant change to see a subtle rhyme scheme for once.

Hmm See I love your view on Silence.. But for myself personally I feel like I am suffocated when it happens.. Too many things rush in and cloud my judgement.. Ahh thinking is such a curse.. Take Care, Wonderful write, Catressa

Oh, that sounds so delightful! A personal retreat, alone, yet more connected to everything. I like the idea of candles. They are a great meditation tool.
Take your pen and paper and I bet you'll write an amazing piece. Enjoy the time and the silence of just being.
    peace-
    TW

I have come back, yet again, to this wondrous masterpiece. I am planning a week of silence here. My wife will be out of town, and I plan on leaving all media to the wayside. May even forgo light from mechanical means and live on candles and kerosene... Listen to their flames. Listen to the Silence. TW, your words are always a soothing balm for me when the experience we have been taught to call "life" would try to rub me raw. Your words gently point my head toward the Light and the Way. I thank you so much for sharing them with us here.

    Great poem

From out of that infinite, inner realm of silence, the mighty
river of life flows forth. What better place to bath in the cool, calm , restorative waters. Perhaps you may be interested in a couple of poems on my site that address the "silence":
"THE SILENCE (WITHIN ME)" and "THE INNER VOICE".

This is enchanting, very lovely. The structure, formatting, and flow all lend to the serene feeling. This is just how I feel when meditating. Great job and good luck.

Yes dear poet the silence is our sanctuary isn't it? A wonderful read and a very interesting structure!

    "Quietly sings"

An outstanding line! I had not considered this, yet it is so true! Excellent!

Such a rhythmic, entrancing flow to this, leading the reader into the realms of silence as we read along...
    Blessed be!

    Strongly stated.

Well you must understand silence because sometimes silence speaks louder than words. I find comfort in silence when someone is sick and just needs the comfort of a person close at hand. I do applaud this but I am building points so this is a good write.

hm... I can't say i like silence much in general... It's sort of an enemy to me, as i've spent most of my life living in countries where i don't speak the language and can't talk to people at all for the first 6 months or so... *shutters* ugh... It's a good poem though, i''m glad some peopel find comfort in silence.
