Still as a Statue (a Riddle)

Still as a statue I'm often seen
Praying on a pulpit of brown and green.
Eating away a delicate creature
I clutch in my hands and look like a preacher.
Walking slow and steady under blue sky,
I go from hunter to hunted, when I fly.

Author notes

This is written for Huntress because she simply asked for it.
Also an update:  Many comments were erased somehow, and I had nothing to do with that.  And, many have guessed squirrel which is incorrect, and I don't think they are carnivores (correct me if I'm wrong), and the only "meat" they eat is in a nut.  Thanks for the comments and guesses before the malfunction.

    a bit puzzling. sp?

I have a feeling that it is a type of animal or bug but i can't seem to point all the clues to one object or animal. *is a bit confused*, ok i have an hour and 20 min. left till practice, so i'll just sit here and stare and stare... until i solve this riddle.

This created a lot of interest last week when i posted it, but somehow all comments were erased and now it begins all over again, lol. Funny how electronic glitches create new dimensions! This must of had twenty to thirty responses and now its back to a beginning (and i was disappointed because of the loss, but can't get angry because it was out of my control). Best Regards, ME p.s. just look at the clues, and GET OUT OF THE BOX!

I think this one seems harder. I have some idea as to what it might be but it doesn't necessarily work for the flying part. hmm good one
