Emotions hide beneath the broken wings
That once knew how to fly
Saying what they are or were
Is not enough to get by
Friendship provokes thought
To where I'm going some day
Will they be going with me
Or will they be forced to stay
I'm tired of saying all things
To make people feel nice
If only they knew how I really thought
Then maybe they'd think twice
About knowing me
Experiencing my thoughts and memories
Would you? Could you?
Be prepared? In all honesty?

Thanx! Now that you've reminded me about this six-parter, I'm going to put them all into a collection that can be seen on my author page.

WOW. A great poem like this that really says something about life, and of course not many people read it. Just figures doesn't it?! And you say this is part one? You said so much, I don't know how you're going to make 5 other parts. Astounding job and I certainly do hope that more people read this.

Your thoughts are a rare gift, a little sad but so true, we perhaps in our poems or write of the way we would like it to be or as in this case the toughts that torment us and anger and frustration come out onto the page, I think those of you who post their personal feelings like this have great courage, when I write in anger or hurt, those poems stay in what I call my black book as if I dont have the courage to let people know how much I hurt inside, this is a great piece it gave me an insite into your world, beautiful the way your sentiments came into this poem, I loved it well done, keep writing, you have the talent it takes, big hug

good write. very honest and well said.
we all have the face we put on, then there is how we are with friends or family. finally there is the person known only to ourselves. that person can be ugly sometimes but that's okay. we are in control of that person.
one or two people in my life know me almost as well as i know myself including the ugly. i save some ugly for myself

You make a valid point with this write, and the meter and form just drive it home. It's hard to put a front for the benefit of everyone else all the time. But not everyone is equiped to deal with our "truer" colors. I wonder who would run scampering away if all of us suddenly stopped playing "nice" with the world.
