As their soldier was laid to rest
Taken in the war
Everyone was crying
No eye was dry
Saying good-bye to their dearest friend
The mothers only son.
Taps were playing in the background
As the casket was set in its final place
Friends and family dragged away
The mother was handed the flag
That no longer flies in grace
Falling to the ground
Not able to get up
The mother fallen due to shock
She couldn't believe she was burying her son
Her brave soldier
So close to coming home
Fallen in the line of duty
Fallen with honor
Dying for his country
That he loved so much
He was only 18
He was taken with all of his pride
He had so much pride in his country
He loved it so much
Fighting for freedom
God bless all of those who have died
And gave the ultimate loss of life
Taken in the war
Everyone was crying
No eye was dry
Saying good-bye to their dearest friend
The mothers only son.
Taps were playing in the background
As the casket was set in its final place
Friends and family dragged away
The mother was handed the flag
That no longer flies in grace
Falling to the ground
Not able to get up
The mother fallen due to shock
She couldn't believe she was burying her son
Her brave soldier
So close to coming home
Fallen in the line of duty
Fallen with honor
Dying for his country
That he loved so much
He was only 18
He was taken with all of his pride
He had so much pride in his country
He loved it so much
Fighting for freedom
God bless all of those who have died
And gave the ultimate loss of life

sadd
I know this feeling all too well. Not for a soldier but for my fellow firefighters. Taps make me cry. This was a scene in my past. Seeing a mother cry, and, I being rookie, handing them the flag. This was a great write, excellent job.

Thank you for your Tribute to those of us who
This is such a special tribute to all soldiers. It’s very nice to see that our sacrifice does not go unnoticed. When we are deployed overseas to some far off land. We deal with the separation from friends and family and then our enemy. Sometimes I do not know what one is worse to deal with. Sometimes we do not all return with all of our comrades. Steel coffin with a flag draped over it is just the beginning of the tear in our hearts. It’s seeing his family and telling her how our friend died is the most painful. Her tears fall and our hearts get ripped to pieces. Your poem is a tribute to those of us who serve our countries. I would like to take this time to thank you for this honour of your poem.
