Born

Patiently, you've waited
for almost nine months
to see the face
of your nurturing womb.

At last,
hope defeated fear
and love was finally born.

Author notes

It took long time till my sister could finally get pregnant. At  the beginning of her pregnacy, some problems came up. It was  a difficult time for her, for as she knew that that would be her only chance to have a baby. Now he is born and really makes his presence be noticed - an extremelly strong voice for a baby -

Again, I remember this one. I didn't know you that well then, but we were of course friends. I remember how excited you were and that you were the godmother was something you were very happy about. PL is now 4 years old...make time slow down please. I know you have that kind of power.

I think many take the idea of childbirth as an easy thing...for some it is difficult and full of wondering...and in the end quite rewarding...lovely poetry ...PK

He's a cool looking kid. I am a little alarmed at that hand to the bottom right of him. I've seen the Chucky movies and dolls scare me.

Can I be like his, crazy half-uncle that nobody admits to having? Or his slightly over-grown brother--How about his somewhat ambiguous great grandmother Yemyrtle. How old is he now? 5 days? Is he shaving yet?

Just being silly--he is indeed one cute kid.

    Dear Mari,
So I am a proud adopted Great-Uncle? Congratulations to Aunty Mariza and, of course, to your sister. And welcome to Pedro.
Perhaps a career in Grand Opera? Or as Town Crier?
Lovingly written poem, Mari, not too many words. Applause.
Love and hugs, XXX Hugh. (Dad).

    Wonderful

Maybe it is me, but I'm feeling overjoyed at the conclusion of your poem. It is a long process to bring an infant to birth, and really hard work, too! However, the new life of a human being is of incalculable value, and worth all of it. Congratulations to your sister and your whole family. (Great picture!)

you know... I was thinking about the punctuation in this poem as I was having grapes placed in my mouth and getting a foot rub... and it seems to me that you could actually delete the comma after months, since it is preceding a prepositional phrase. The effect would be to smooth the line break a little as well.

oh, excuse me, I'm being told it is time for my manicure...

What a lovely photo to set off this creative write. I agree with Brian, your recent Haiku writes have given you a keen eye
for saying a great deal in a very few words.

    Lovely,

    Del

This does a good job of capturing that sense of anticipation and the wait, Mari. Very simple, with carefully chosen words to describe but awaken a feel of something more beneath while celebrating what is... I think all the haiku writing has been having an effect on you

    Good job,
    Brian
