An Age Of Very Old (a Riddle)

I'm from an age that's very old,
Dark or clear I'm always cold.
I'm a pick, pack, box, and a boat --
On me you'll sail but seldom float.
Sometimes a house, land, and stream
Or, mixed with sweets, fudge, and cream.
