Chester Bunny lived in an old barn,
all alone he had run away from home,
he was always looking for adventure,
so over hill and dale he would roam.
Now there was a old sly fox nearby,
he was watching his very next meal,
the fox pounced upon Chester's head,
boy you could hear poor Chester squeal.
Now the chase was on around the barn,
Chester was running as fast as he could,
he saw a chance to get away from the fox,
the bunny slid underneath a pile of wood.
Well Chester stayed beneath the wood pile,
he fell asleep until the break of day,
peeking his head out to look for the fox,
it was safe, the sly fox had run away.
Well by now Chester was really hungry,
missing his family in the warren in the glen,
he was frightened the fox wood return,
and that he would never see his mom again.
Chester even missed his brother's teasing,
he even missed all the chores he had to do,
but most of all he missed all the laughter,
and his mom saying, good night, I love you.
Chester had enough of his big adventure,
in his heart he no longer wanted to roam,
the sly fox finally made Chester realize,
there truly is no place to be like home.

Excellent, suspenseful tale!
Sandy, OUTSTANDING!!! I have to say this is the most "touching" children's tale you have written, it just warms the heart! It did keep me tense, I was concerned for Chester, (heart racing) so worried something might happen, so you did keep it suspenseful as well, VERY GOOD! This is what hold's the child's attention, you can see the look in their eye of concern, and the end is just what was needed, the lesson learned, you have done a surperb job my friend, truly excellent in all regards! I ADORE IT! ( a sucker I am for children's stories) Love, Ann

Okay
Not really sure what I think about this poem. I feel it would be unfair for me to try and critique it when I couldn't get a personal feel to draw a perspective from. -

Hey, you could make this a lullaby, or into an Enid Blyton-like children's story! In fact, I'm sure I've read a children's book that had something along the same storyline as this poem. Good...for a certain group of society.

This makes me think of how Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny ran away and got into all that trouble in a Beatrix Potter story. I think they ended up hiding in a pile of onions though... not sure. But anyway, this was a wonderful peice of poetry. So refreshing!

Cute, very cute, so true to life for children of all ages. The adventures tend to lead us away from safety sometimes. If we are lucky we make it back in on piece to tell our own stories. Very nice write, a true joy to read and fun at the same time. keep up the good work.

A sweet little story, I would certainly see myself telling it to my baby sister, she'd love it. Despite still being small and smelly she's cute -
Great!
lol...A very cute poem with also a nice metaphorical message within. Usually, I prefer to stay a meter away from childish poems but this was well worth the read!
