I offered to make the baskets
but Lisa said
we should wait till spring
when the mountain passes thaw
then follow the stream
to the village
where the shamen sing.
through the long past
when the desert blooms
lions on the edges
of the crocodile rooms
the round reed buckets
whirling at noon
Ipuit and Kmit
quarrel at Teti's tomb
Pepi at six
not yet free of the womb
the stink of the dead,
dying.
The fabric in the loom is old
and very brittle
dried from the constant heat.
Lisa wakes me from my reverie
and says,
"Are you frightened
when the gods look through your soul?".
She stares at the scratches I've made in the snow
as if I've forgotten her
and remembered how I shivered
when I felt the hot wind blow.

Excellent
This makes me feel the way I feel when I drive through the desert, remembering it was once a sea....and wonder if it remembers itself that way still. I'm not sure what you intended, but you gave me a bit of magic...intended or not. You let me look into a thought I hadn't examined closely...and I discovered gold. Yours or mine...I'm not sure where it originated...only that it lines my pockets now.

20 hours where you be? Travel back to the pyramids or something? Ya know, they hooked brains out and didn't save them but saved all the other innards in those canopic jars. Brains meant nothing. Just slooped em out and chucked them. Had that instrument for "touching the mouth" that was very important - allowed them to eat and drink and stuff plus ya know they left the heart inside didn't sloop that out cause it had get weighed in that BIG place of Two Truths. . All sorts of traveling their bodies then did. Kinda cool. But quite frankly, I just can't get my head wrapped around how the hell they built those things...I really want to see them. Too bad about Sphinx's nose and stuff. Egyptian girls made lots of makeup out of crushed up stuff even had little cosmetic thingys and mirrors. Very advanced.
Hey. There's Lisa!

kind of like a time warp huh...when you drift to places that you have never been or never seen...like the Gods themselves looking through your soul.
Now you know i love my baskets...more in use and general decor around this place than i know what to do with sometimes...and they do indeed line my hallway jungle...thought of that and felt like i was walking along with you on the journey for a moment...
hmmmm...lions...prowling the edges of the crocodile room...now there is an interest image popping into my head...both hunters...very dangerous. The lion scratches in the snow while the crocodile looks on???
lol
Hey, get weaving...i could use another basket up here! hahaha!

Enchanting
this is a very haunting piece. you seem to be talking about seas of sand, egyptian tombs and the like, and then you're scratching snow. it's confusing, and yet...it kind of makes sense.
anyway. i really liked it. the imagery of the nile and it's flora and fauna was very good.
