It sounds like me when I hide from people, lol.
It's a soft image, which contrasrs the urgency of it.

This is one of the very first haiku I ever wrote... right after I discovered the form and fell in love with it. Someday maybe I'll be a real haiku writer like haikumonk (wishful thinking, I'm afraid)

Too true. This speaks to me both of playfulness and of self preservation. Like the mouse, we in life run into those that would devour us if given the chance. Great piece.

Thank you, this is actually the very first haiku I ever wrote. It was a few years before I joined AP. I have lots more but only a few posted. They're one of my favorite forms of poetry.

Ah! So so cute! I love both cats and mice, I was lucky in that none of my cats (and my family has had over 100 over the years, and I have 11 of my own) have ever hunted mice. (Used to drive my dad crazy!) Feels like there should be a companion poem about the cat too.
The way you've worded the poem, the words you used keep it quiet, like trying to tip-toe down a squeaky hallway where you have to bounce a little too so as not to stay on the floor for too long (how's that for a run-on lol.) I feel like I should whisper and move softly while I'm reading it. -
