Sir Terrence walked through the marketplace
When a diamond caught his eye
Lady Destiny, a lady of much beauty
Upon her white steed astride
She looked at Sir Terrence with eyes of deep green
And a heart girded with gold
A'melted was his compassionate soul
That had once been daring and bold
He took the lady's hand
And kissed it ever so light
"May I be of service to you Madame?"
"Twould be my heart's delight."
Hers was the voice of music
Nothing ever sounded so sweet
From the moment he looked into her green eyes
A wife for himself he knew she was meet
He had heard other openly speak
Of her utmost beauty and grace
But never had this lonely man
Seen a woman like this face-to-face
Devoted became Sir Terrence
To this wondrous dream-come-true
Never before had this essence of Love
Soaked a man through and through
Lady Destiny felt for this handsome man
Who held her very being
It seemed as he kissed her delicate hand
It was really her heart he was needing
A message she felt
Through his passionate kiss
Her soul freed within her
With a feeling: pure bliss
Betrothed as she was to the likes of Sir Andrew
She knew her father would be upset
If he found out about this Sir Terrence
To love as she, her heart, had let
Sir Terrence climbed the balcony
Upon did the lady await
Hoping he would arrive soon
She didn't want him to be late
Sir Terrence arrived on the minute
And gave Destiny a rose
He kissed her hand so gently
She held the flower to her nose
A ring slipped he on her finger
That sparkled ever so bright
As they gazed into each other's eyes
They kissed in marriage that warm night
The rose he gave her was enchanted
Whilst their love lasts it would not wilt
Not for pain, not for sorrows
Not for shame nor guilt
Night after night two lovers secretly lived
Each leaving one another come morn
Only at night could they be together
Come daylight they were torn
Sir Patrick, our lady's father
Wished her a wedding to adorn
But his thoughts smashed, his temper quickened
When she told him of a babe soon to be born
"Who dost this to thou, my lady?"
Asked Sir Patrick in a rage
"Tell me where I shall find him
And I will fight despite my age!"
"No my lord!" cried our lady
"For it is he I love
He has taken my hand in marriage
He was sent to me from above!"
But Sir Patrick had already betrothed his daughter
To Sir Andrew, not this other man
If not marriage to Sir Andrew, his daughter he would ban
Sir Patrick took he his many men
Sir Andrew followed along
To find this lady's dear Sir Terrence
But they needn't search for long
For upon the balcony of our lady
There Sir Terrence stood
He was waiting for his sweet wife
Instead met with men under hood
They dragged him weeping to the prison
And they told him he would soon die
For this awful sin he had committed
For with Lady Destiny he did lie
The very next day Sir Terrence was taken out
For a most grave hanging
Bravely went he to his slaughter
But for his wife his heart was aching
For on that very morning
A babe had humbly been born
In the chamber of Lady Destiny
Our lady could not rejoice, for her love she must mourn
At the very hour struck noon
The death of Sir Terrence did call
And the enchanted rose of their love
Wilted and the petals did fall
At that moment our lady did know
To marry Sir Andrew she could not
She held her babe close and kissed it soft
And wept, wept all distraught
She put back her babe into its cradle
To it words of love she spoke
She gathered up her deadened rose
And put on her old black cloak
That night slunk she from her humble dwelling
to find a way to be with her love
She found her way to a darkened cliff
As she jumped she heard winds whisper her love's name above...
Author notes
This one took me two whole days to write. I worked on it as much as I could. It is my pride and joy, though it is sad. The last line bothers me though... I wish I could have found something else to say.

Awesome
Theres one line in the second stanza I didn't really understand...
"A wife for himself he knew she was meet"
And you're right, that last line is a little awkward. But overall, I absolutely loved it! The story was just wonderful, although sad. But hey, all good poems find a way to touch the heart, whether is sadness or delight. Amazing job, and keep up the great work!
