Long Lasting, Torn Apart

The river tormented folded paper
as though a grain of sand
carried along so far away
longing to be held again

Caught on a rock beside the shore
along comes a little boy
stumbling across that little paper
astounded and pleading with joy

In his amazement he dashed on home
leaving that paper behind
forgetting that bad things happened that day
a picture imprinted in his mind

That folded paper blew away
and into the ocean it went
traveling sea by day and night
longing the time it was sent

Finally the day had come
a fisherman hooked the note
reeling in what wasn't there
just something that stayed afloat

The fisherman unfolded the paper
surprised at what he saw
raced on home to kiss his wife
coming back with no food at all

The paper left inside his pocket
after drying through all the night
fell onto the ground near dusk
collecting the sun's delight

A new day came and passed on by
when a girl had tripped and fell
she saw the note and picked it up
and ran to school to tell

the note was left on the teacher's desk
and later she read aloud
to those that she had loved the most
to those she was so proud

In this note were things untold
in this world we hate to see
that someone out there loves you
closer then family

This torn up paper said so much
that love can heal the pain
and if this note made it to you
it proves love will remain

Though we go through rough times
and feel far out in sea
long lasting torn apart
still love will always be

    awesome

I love this. It's so filled with hope. At the end I almost wished that I could find a note just like it. Until I realized that your poem had the same effect on me as the note did to the people in your poem. A very powerful peice of work.

    good

Awww... very good! It's really sweet, the message that love can heal the pain. I liked the passing of the message from one to another. Good job. I really liked the lines:This torn up paper said so much
that love can heal the pain
and if this note made it to you
    it proves love will remain

Though we go through rough times
and feel far out in sea
    long lasting torn apart
    still love will always be

    Wow! Awesome!
