I face all my fears
all night long, all alone,
eyes wide, hair on end
like there's no one else home.
Lights off. TV on.
Surround sound set at "BOOM!"
PS2 up and running.
I set the Silent Hill mood . . .
I run, fight, scream, hide,
heart pounding as I play.
I feel terror, pain, despair,
then relief--I got AWAY!!
Maybe my mind's warped.
(They say I'm too old for this.)
But if I can whip these monsters
I can handle my two kids!

So cute, my grandkids love playing these games, and I love to watch them, but to play them...not for me. Glad you enjoy this sport!

Lol. This is great. Nice rhythym too. Very indicative of the mentality of us older gamers. It sort of relates to that old addage--Insanity is hereditary, you get it from your kids--
Nicely and plainly written and straight to the point. I always like that

Oh I loved this! I've always believed the saying "Raising kids is like being pecked to death by chickens and ducks!" I love how you tied this into your daily life, of raising kids and such. And I loved how you described playing at night and such. It seemed to play out really well, since my brother (RIP) would play until like 4 or 5 am everynight...it brought a few of those happy memories back; don't ask me what they had to do with this, besides video games. LOL! Great job!

Thanks for the compliment and for taking the time to read my poem! I have been checking out your writing since you were so kind as to read mine. So far certitude is my fave! I love the way you work your words into images on many of your pieces. Keep honing this art. Keep writing!!

Thanks for reading! I read some of your work since you took the time to read mine. My favorite so far is "chocolate pudding"--is that weird? There's a contest "I need to laugh" that is open until the 26th. You should consider entering it. Anyway, keep on writing!!

Very well description of the atmosphere and sensations this kind of games usually deliver and nice use of the end: in one sentence you managed to turn it all into an amusing poem. Great work! Keep writing.
