Searching for the Inner Me

To find the inner me I've lost
over the past several years

I am sticking my fingers
deep into my ears.

I am closing my eyes now,
here is what I hear:

sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

I now realize
that the profound

does not come naturally
to me.

An urbane American

went to Tibet to meditate.

He began hearing traffic noises

in the middle of the Himalayas.

His brain was cleaning house...

I thought I would hear something like that.

Nope, nothing to clean here.

Empty.

No garbage to take out.

Let me try again:

maybe I'm using the wrong senses...

                        gnnnnn...

                        gnnnnn...

fwahhhhhhhhhhh...
No matter how hard I try,
same thing.
Nothing.

Wait!

Once more!

Just give me one more chance to achieve
some kind of revelation:

          dark in here....

blahhooooooooooooo
puff puff puff...

What a disaster this was.
I will never be the same.

Hey, that's a good thing!
No--
now I've completely cracked up.

and lost my arms and ears.

Wow I really like that. It's such a realistic view towards a prompt that begs for forced profound revelations. Props for keepin it real, yo. Um.. I mean... great job at drawing the conclusion that everything doesn't have a nice conclusion to draw.

This is insanely funny! I was directed here by Kimberly and I am very happy she did. I was and still am sitting here laughing out loud about this. You have one warped mind, but that’s a good thing in my books. Thanks for the laugh!

This one was easy- all I had to do was describe the inner me- blank!

I would dearly love to know what was going through that mind of yours when you penned this. This is absolutely priceless! This is so funny. You get gold as far as I am concerned! Good luck!

This is so unexpected and brilliant! That's the trouble with total honesty though, you never know what you might find, lol.
I love the pictures, they're amazing. Good luck in the contest.

Wait a minute- how can anyone feel serious sitting there with their fingers in their ears and eyes tightly shut? Well, I assumed you did want me to be perfectly honest, anyway! I hope the inner me didn't disuade others from finding their serious innerds...

Lol.. hm.. I really didn't want a comical piece with this, though I didn't disallow it.. I really wanted you to take the sounds you heard and create something of it.. perhaps exaggerate it a bit, not too much, but enough to make someone wonder what goes on in your mind.. You, obviously, have nothing going on in there. Hehe, maybe you're hard of hearing from the inside! That happens with old age. Lol, I'm just kidding, but thanks for the comical piece. I'm sorry the contest didn't particularly inspire you to write of something with more imagery and scene-based imagination. I really enjoyed the pictures too!
