I love you
The words I swore I wouldn't say
Tumbled out of my lips and echoed in my ears
They lingered in the air and how I wish I could take them back
But they were spoken, out loud
You heard them too.
With those three words left unspoken
I was denying how I felt
I could pretend this was just a casual fling
No feelings involved, no hearts to be broken
But as soon as they escaped my lips
I could no longer deny,
Could no longer try to convince myself,
Could not pretend you didn't mean the world to me.
I had tried so hard not to love you
Tried not to complicate things with emotional attachments
This wasn't suppose to happen
But it has.
My heart stilled, my ears strained
What would you say
How would you react, this was to be casual
It was not to go this way
You smiled
I heard those same three words again
But this time *the tumbling words fall off your lips*

This is a good poem. I don't really know what else to say since it's 2:30 a.m. and I'm about to pass out and fall out of my chair. Congrats and keep writing. -

Great write and yes those 3 words are the most powerful words to say to a person. To be able to feel such love is an acomplishment.. Well written -

This is amazing. I love the thoughts, emotions, and contemplation that take place in those few seconds that feel like hours going by. I understood those feelings and everything about this all too well. Very excellent job. -
