So that's what I wrote the last time I was here. Screw the sob stories. Let's focus on the positives:

1) I'm a 21st century Asian (no offence meant, hehe), which means I'm 50% conservative and 50% liberal.
2) Apparently I have the gift of words. Not so great at my other hobby, belly dancing, which I have been learning for about 2 years now
3) Photography is my second 'talent', if you like. Apparently my specialty is scenery
4) Cliched as it may sound, I am normally inspired to write from events surrounding my dysfunctional family, although I hope to write about love as I'm recovering from a break-up from my first love
5) Why did I ever stop writing poetry? It gives me a sense of pride.

A fellow writer, Yasmin Masidi, just sent me this:

A Few Words to a Young Writer
By Ursula Le Guin

Socrates said, "The misuse of language induces evil in the soul." He wasn't talking about grammar. To misuse language is to use it the way politicians and advertisers do, for profit, without taking responsibility for what the words mean. Language used as a means to get power or make money goes wrong: it lies. Language used as an end in itself, to sing a poem or tell a story, goes right, goes towards the truth.

A writer is a person who cares what words mean, what they say, how they say it. Writers know words are their way towards truth and freedom, and so they use them with care, with thought, with fear, with delight. By using words well they strengthen their souls. Story-tellers and poets spend their lives learning that skill and art of using words well. And their words make the souls of their readers stronger, brighter, deeper.

I would honestly say....you need to put your writings in contest.....not only to pretty up your page with cups....but to give others the benifit of seeing your talent shine...And I say this with honest intention..
