I have attended a local poetry group for three years now off and on. There I have learned an interesting way of writing poetry where rhyming doesn't matter but inner rhyme rules. It is the pace of the words and the sounds that matter most when writing this way. It is hard to do well I have learned.
I am so pleased to find other poets here that do the same sort of poetry the group I belong to does. We are called the Basement Bards because when our local library will no longer have us we set up in our teacher's basement for a few more weeks. We will be performing at Detroit's Opera House in mid- July. Every year we have a reading in May. This year in was in the old Methodist church structure that has been revamped and is part of the Historical Centers buildings in town. It was a lovely day and we all enjoyed hearing what the other group of writers in town had created. We even had a one act play!
Now with our teacher having back surgery and not teaching these next months I learned of AP from a fellow poet in the group. So I gave it a try and love reading others poems late in the evening. I haven't posted many poems yet. Most need revising but I will try to get them up one at a time.
You all have been so kind welcoming me into the group. I hope to learn how to put up pictures as I go along. Gorgeous pictures and poems...who could ever ask for more.
