                                 "Let me tonight look back
                                        across the span
                                 twixt dark and dawn, and
                                   to my conscience say -
                               Because of some good act

                                      to beast or man -
                                  'The world is better that
                                          I lived today.'" - Ella Wheeler Cox

Quick Bio.: once a girl, then a nun - quickly therein a woman; left before my final vows, now in a material world a dedicated virgin. Many names I've had, and many hats I've worn, and you'll find the story of it all in this little forum. In the backhills county where I live, the men and women are a rough and unscrupulous mob; once the police put up a notice "Man wanted for murder" and 16 applied for the job.

Just a : Since many have asked, I've written a few prose pieces in my lifetime, but did not seriously take up writing poetry until this past year as a sort of therapy. I learned, like Emily Dickinson, to start by writing poetry according to hymn meter, aka by syllables. This came easily from my experience in the convent as a nun of transferring various writings to metered hymns. I took off from there, and have my own variations, some so off-style that you may consider them Whitmanesque poems; they have no rhyming style, they're more like diary entries. But to each their own style.

"If I can stop one heart from breaking,

         I shall not live in vain;

                 If I can ease one life the aching,

                            Or cool one pain,

        Or help one fainting robin

                 Unto his nest again,

                            I shall not live in vain." - Emily Dickinson
