Wherever I am, there's always Pooh,
There's always Pooh and Me.
Whatever I do, he wants to do,
"Where are you going today?" says Pooh:
"Well, that's very odd 'cos I was too.
Let's go together," says Pooh, says he.
"Let's go together," says Pooh.
"What's twice eleven?" I said to Pooh.
("Twice what?" said Pooh to Me.)
"I think it ought to be twenty-two."
"Just what I think myself," said Pooh.
"It wasn't an easy sum to do,
But that's what it is," said Pooh, said he.
"That's what it is," said Pooh.
"Let's look for dragons," I said to Pooh.
"Yes, let's," said Pooh to Me.
We crossed the river and found a few-
"Yes, those are dragons all right," said Pooh.
"As soon as I saw their beaks I knew.
That's what they are," said Pooh, said he.
"That's what they are," said Pooh.
"Let's frighten the dragons," I said to Pooh.
"That's right," said Pooh to Me.
"I'm not afraid," I said to Pooh,
And I held his paw and I shouted "Shoo!
Silly old dragons!"- and off they flew.
"I wasn't afraid," said Pooh, said he,
"I'm never afraid with you."
So wherever I am, there's always Pooh,
There's always Pooh and Me.
"What would I do?" I said to Pooh,
"If it wasn't for you," and Pooh said: "True,
It isn't much fun for One, but Two,
Can stick together, says Pooh, says he. "That's how it is," says Pooh.
There's always Pooh and Me.
Whatever I do, he wants to do,

Most Enjoyable
Late tonight I discovered this hidden treasure here of Milne's poems and had a wonderful couple of hours reading and re reading them, though written for children there is a lot of depth and meaning in them. They are like a beautiful oasis of innocence in this weary world and I wrote these lines on them
Alan Alexander Milne and I
spent Saturday night together
we talked of bears and little boys
flying kites in windy weather
Christopher Robin was discussed a lot
and so were Tigger and Pooh
at 3 am we looked at the clock
and reluctantly bid adieu

Just lovely Pari, so pleased you enjoyed the wonderful 'through childs' eyes' poetry from this man. He was exceptional. Von

yes it seems to be through a child's eyes yet there is so much insight in them and understanding of human nature.

I'm using this poem for poetry day as we've been told to bring in our favourite poem! The only catch is that we've also got to write an essay on it.... -

My Sister-in-law read this at my wedding. Though I do love Winnie the Pooh, I hadn't heard this poem before the run-up to the big day. It makes me smile, giggle and cry (with happiness) when I hear it. I can't think of a better way to sum up the relationship I have with my wonderful husband, Andrew. -
Us Two

This is, and has been for a very long time, the poem that depicts my friendship with my twin sister. It isn't much fun for One, but Two, can stick together. The theme of our lives. What would I do without her?!! -

This is a beautiful poem. I loved it so much, and I'm using it to introduce a bokk, on which a very important theme is friendship. -

This poem is perfection, its a lovely depiction of a strong friendship. It fills me with conflicting feelings everytime I read it. At first I feel really happy, because a beautiful friendship is being displayed. I feel hopeful that in my lifetime, I will find a friend as loyal as Pooh, and enjoy a strong relationship(with a friend or soulmate). But then I also feel sad that I will never a friend like that, because I feel a friend like that just does not exist in this world. This poem is just wonderful. I Love it so much!! -

Us Two
From guest Penny Herbert (contact)
I read this at my son's wedding three years ago - for some reason I kept 'filling up' and am conforted to read that I'm not the only one! Afterwards I was complimented by someone saying that they had always felt it was a children's poem before they heard me reading it (despite the tears). What a lovely comment. I still fill up when I read it!!! -
I've always thought A.A.Milne's poetry left somethign to be disired, but after reading more, I've realized he's actually a really great poet- and I especially like this one!

Pooh
From guest Sezzie (contact)
As my daughter has asked me to read this at her wedding this summer, BUT, as she collapses in a heap of giggle whenever I practice, I am still unsure if it is a compliment that she thinks I can carry it off OR it is a send up. hummmmmm we will see..... -

"As soon as I saw their beaks I knew.
They were only birds!!!
