i miss new orleans. it wasn't my home by birth, but by choice. i fell in love at first sight and it ended up breaking my heart. ahhh, what else can i say. i really miss it.

new orleans

the texas sun beats down upon me like the devils smile
i'd rather be anywhere else than here
was it a blinding lack of subtlety or just a lack of style
responding to the ways and means of fear

take me back to new orleans
and drop me at my door
cause i might love you, yeah
but i love me more

my fingernails are bitten till there's nothing left but skin
i'd rather be anyone else right now
the light that shone within my eyes is slowly growing dim
she told me where, told me when, but never said how

take me back to new orleans
and don't call me anymore
cause i might love you, yeah
but i love me more

she said 'how can i make this un-happen'
i said 'you can not make this un-happen'
choose before your choices fade away
she said 'i could be home by tomorrow, if i could beg, steal or borrow'
i said 'you're there, you might as well stay'

the morning mist rises through another crack in the glass
the lack of sleep has made me numb
but sometimes when she sleeps she'll turn and she'll whisper his name
that cake must taste great but i'll pass when you offer me some

take me back to new orleans
and drop me at my door
cause i might love you, yeah
but i love me more
take me back to new orleans
and don't call me anymore
cause i might love you, yeah
i might love you, yeah
but i love me more
i love me more

i could try to describe my style of writing if i really thought i had one, but seeing as i don't it might be a bit difficult. my writing is varied, some rhymes, some doesn't, some is form, some free verse. the poem decides how it's going to come out, not me.

now i'm about to get random on you so consider yourself warned:

i'm way into music, all different kinds. i have some favorites of course and they include better than ezra, cowboy mouth, jason mraz and john mayer to name a few. i like so many types though you could name a genre and i'd be able to pick a favorite. to me it doesn't matter what you call music, if i like the way it sounds then i like it.

i am also an hgtv junkie. i love to decorate and do home improvements and all kinds of dorky stuff like that, lol. i just can't help it, once i get started i'm out of control. but it makes me happy, so it's a good thing.

and here we go with some quotables:

"there will come a time when you believe everything is finished. that will be the beginning." - louis l'amour

"live so that your friends can defend you but never have to." - arnold h. glasgow

"you cannot hold a man down without staying down with him." - booker t. washington

and a few fave lyrics just for good measure:

"sweet dream, new orleans, mississippi river running over me. pretty mama come and take me by the hand, don't mock what you don't understand. it's a southern thing." kevin griffin, better than ezra

"i am worthless sounds compared to all your perfect words." jann arden

"i just can't wait till my 10 year reunion, i'm gonna bust down the double doors. and when i stand on these tables before you, you will know what all this time was for." john mayer

"get right to the heart of matters, it's the heart that matters more. i think you better turn your ticket in, and get your money back at the door." adam duritz, counting crows

"so if you wanna see the brand new me, well just look at the brand new you. i'm gonna be bad, every time i think about you." fred leblanc, cowboy mouth

"i'm willing to break myself, to shake this hell from everything i touch. i'm willing to bleed for days, my reds and greys, so you don't hurt so much." andrew mcmahon, something corporate

"and the world could be perfect, even if we are not. if everything is forgiven, even if not forgot." darden smith

well i guess i'll leave you with that. until i feel the urge for another re-vamp...

I love New Orleans Too!! I've only been there once and now i can die peacefully. . . .well, not exactly, i've come up with other things i must do before i die, but that lifts a great step off my list. It is unlike any place i've ever been to. Just thought i would share.
