Just a little about me: I am a woman who grew up in Michigan and now live in sunny Arizona. While I love it here now because the winters are mild, a part of me will always be in the snow. I don't miss the cold, but I miss the people, the fresh air of an open field, the countryside and green, green farmland. Lake Michigan was like the ocean to me. The snow was beautiful at first sight. The smell, the sparkle the crisp fresh air. Now I have cactus and concrete lol but amazingly I have the best of both worlds. I have my memories of another home which I miss very much and of old friends who are dear in my heart that still reside there. I also have my nice warm weather now and my wonderful family whom I enjoy it with
I have written since I was 11 yrs old starting with the first attempt at writing a poem for my teachers. I got the inspiration from them to continue and I did. Later I would write for extra credit at school for my English teacher's - one of them I remember fondly was Mrs. Hamilton in 9th grade. Many of my teacher's told me then that I should always pursue my dream of becoming a poet and published writer. I doubted I had it in me. Now that I look back I can see that I have a lot more than I ever thought of to offer. I don't have as much time to devote to it as a busy mother who works full time, but I still plan on publishing my work, it's just a matter of when I'm ready to take that next step and branch out.
I enjoy this site a lot and have met some really nice people with amazing talents! From the funny to the inspirational and awe inspiring. I hope to contribute my writings in such a way as to reach the hearts of people, to at least have someone be able to relate and understand me through my work. It's not only a talent we have as writers but a special blessing from
our creator and many of my poems reflect my spiritual side as well.
Enjoy all and thanks for visiting! Please leave comments if you would like to.

williamstown on July 25Interesting how your teachers can influence and encourage one to persevere with writing. I found the same when I was at school so many years ago now.

Bedroom Eyes on November 2, 2006Interesting profile you have here Nikki. I also grew up in Michigan. I lived in Clarkston for 18 years. I now reside in Pennsylvania.
Music is a passion of mine too. I'm more of a classic rock kinda guy, but I appreciate talent in whatever genre, and you've touched upon some heavy hitting vocalists.
Great page you have here too!!
