Well, let's see. I'm a university student (finally!) at the University of Utah. I'm majoring in chemistry.
Poetry is my release- although I'm not generally an angsty person, my poetry often is. It's my means of sorting through my emotions, and I don't need to do that so much when I'm happy.
I come from an emotionally abusive family. I've learned to overcome the hurt and to stop projecting that onto others. Still, though, it can show up in my poetry from time to time, usually with references to my dad.
Another reference you might see often is that of heroin: almost two years ago one of my friends died from a heroin overdose. It profoundly affected my life, and I use it as a metaphor fairly often.
My major poetic heroes: Robert Frost and Margaret Atwood.
Many times my style will mirror those two, but after years of practice I've mostly developed my own style.
I appreciate constructive criticism more than praise, as I feel it helps me grow more as a person and as a writer. I know that my work isn't perfect, and having other people there to help with the process is always a positive thing.
Above all, I just like to write.
