_Membership_ - As a note of thanks from the site, all new members are given a free four-day trial preferred membership when they join. This allows you to post pictures with your poems and on your author page. Once the trial is over, you will no longer be able to enjoy these special benefits unless you purchase a membership for yourself. Although a membership is not required in order to post poems or comment, it does make the AP experience a bit more exciting. Further details are in the Store link at the top of the page.
_Contests_ - Each month the \Site Greeters\ host a contest for new poets, and * http://allpoetry.com/contest/609652 *is the one for May. At the top of the screen you will notice a \Contests\ link, where different AP poet-hosted challenges will help inspire your creative talents, and http://allpoetry.com/Column/307514 is an interesting column that describes contests and how they are judged.

_Promoting_ - Two options to promote your work are the \Shameless Promotion\ section, and the \Feature section\. Please do not promote in the Chatter Box, Instant Message, or the Bulletin Boards. A moderator or greeter will ask you to stop, and you could be 'fined points'.
