I am new to poetry and have no formal knowledge at all. The fact that I started to
write poetry came as a complete shock to me. But words and feelings started to pour out of me one morning. "Why?" is the first poem that I wrote and relates to the fact that I have
Parkinson's Disease. Because I am new to poetry, comments and suggestions are particularly appreciated!
My favorite poem, so far, is "Utopia" by Wislawa Szymborska. She won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1996 for her work.
I am a very happily married woman (first and only marriage) living in California.

Poems I'm focused on
-
Imagination’s landscape grows wild.
Its surface grey with expectations. -
A supercilious whip cracks;
power’s shriek -
Sun and moon encircle our lives.
Their cycles bound our growth -
Quickie 200 Poets Big Points
Out of the Box Thinkers Only! -
Surely there must be
one thousand -
Storms often flood our paths with obscure fears.
Shadows cower afraid to face the dark; -
Field dances with electricity
sparked by fluid movements of goddess -
Tickled bystanders gasp
at soft white blooms -
Dust invades swollen eyes drawing unwanted tears.
I hear my wife’s voice calling out in need, “Miss you.” -
Innocence should dance free among the clouds;
shimmering jewel admired by all who see -
A dry creek bed, my soul, parched with thirst
as drout overshadowed shades of hope; -
Not cold but fresh.
Not at all dead, thriving. -
Despair stands waiting by the door ever ready.
But I choose not to answer his constant missives. -
Mountain spirit
-
Vengeance poisons the lost source;
focused on ants jumping rope. -
Utility and time must always have their way!
Numbers must be measured.
