SUMMER ON THE MOUNTAIN The eastern panhandle of West Virginia has been blessed with warm, sunny days and just enough rainfall to allow the corn to grow and the flowers to stay watered this summer. So far it has been a summer with many rich but mixed blessings. As I write, our daughter-in-law is literally drawing her last breaths while losing her four year battle with cancer. Though it is a sad time for us, would we want her to suffer one more day? We are just blessed to have had her in our family for 21 years and we are thankful for the two grandchildren she has given us. So life goes on and our thoughts are of family and helping those who are left behind. Soon we will all smile again and we will get on with the business of LIFE. In all things there is GOOD and a purpose. Summer has always been my favorite time of year. In just a few short weeks I will make my annual journey out to Idaho to visit my dad and celebrate his 87th. birthday with him. When I return home again we will have company for a few days and then we'll be off to celebrate with some old friends of our at their son's wedding. Time goes on, life is a journey, and all things and in all seasons, there is GOOD.

A FAVORITE POEM:

What if you slept?
And what if,
in your sleep
you dreamed?
And what if
in your dream
you went to heaven
and there plucked
a strange and
beautiful flower?
And what if,
when you awoke,
you had the flower
in your hand?
