together, we rain bitterly stale
the pink panther's been downgraded
-a measly advertisment whore
(still more action than either of us
has seen in months)
and we laugh
because these are the drops
our contorted conversations bring
a proverbial cup 'o coffee
a cigarette or two
and the puns flow
ex lax to constipated verb-age
each line moving the other
like glass eyes to sightless scenes
and yet we seem to see all that's written
and when two hours pass to four
we find a home
warm with sarcasm
and bitter-ed beats
that make it okay for us
to be the strangers that walk through stale rain.
- odds and ends
fire rabbit
hidden
in life’s burrow
you light up
fireworks
and getting stuck
between sparks
is only the tax
on a heart that works.
i’ve seen you
shiver, tangled
in rose bushes
along the labyrinth
and i’ve heard you
follow your dream
to the breaking of
dawn.
what’s right
or where to draw
a red pencil
calling it wrong --
only a question of
growth.
this show
is worth more
than a billion bucks
and you get to
be the master of ceremonies
for your own sky,
the man behind each star
no matter who knows it
or understands your
constellation.
-piggyback
Lay with me flutterbug
in this oasis
here in my trembling palms:
a thing of wisdom you are
magnificent
yet truly in love.
-apples fell
mandala
you've gone
from a candle
and its secret
wishes
to fast-paced
fibers of
electricity
like a diary
that turns to
poetry
everything else
that means more
before phrasing
expands
inside you
as you add beads
to the necklace
glass becomes
an industrial
diamond
and the
emphasis
is up
to you
you who do
both
the flames &
the melting

"i feel like there are the people that read poetry to say that they are cool and literate... and then the ones that like to tear it apart because it wasn't their thought or emotion. there are only those few that sit to enjoy a piece... that are grateful for the memories that come up from reading something else.... that need words to call home for a few minutes."
