Each person is a human being who lives in a particular place and time. People are born with the heritage of their ancestors from parents right back through Noah and his family all the way to Adam and Eve. In our blood and flesh and bone we discover we are all children of First Man and the Mother of All Living.
Heterogeneous in our cultures and appearance, we are homogeneous in our basic hierarchy of human needs, in our hopes for our children to be strong, successful and happy, and in our universal interfertility. Individuals of any heritage may become grandfathers and grandmothers of children of every heritage.
Historically, societies of clans and tribes and even nations have called themselves the People. To identify with and to be proud of one's closest heritage is as natural as treasuring family. In our diversity it is not an easy thing to acknowledge all of humanity as one People, but to do so is to find family among all who share the same blood. We may never look alike, sound alike or pray alike, but one day we may find the grace to call all humankind the People.

All this and more are who I am and yet may be.
For none of it, I make or owe apology. -
