Oh! My memory haunts me with the call of places I have loved,

Contentment truly blest!
Ah! That's where I would be! -
This is the shrine of Masterworks, les ouvres
of artists now defunct; long dead and gone. -
The picture shows the Cour de Marbre frontage to Versailles
which we never saw - with far too many tourists in the way! -
The moral of my story is: Don’t visit, without reason,
Versailles, the Louvre or Paris at the height of Summer Season!! -
I well remember Petworth Park; we often used to stroll
along the tree-lined pathways winding through the sloping lawns. -
She’ll always have a place within my heart -
for, of all others, she remains my first true Valentine.
-
Of many places where I’ve been and all the stately homes I’ve seen,
it’s Yorkshire’s Castle Howard I find that comes most readily to mind. -
now, free of problems, I shall sleep…..
I’ve cleared my desk and debt. -
My mind is like a soaring bird and, as my thoughts take wing,
they fly to far off places where my body cannot go. -
Once I knew a geisha girl, her name was Cho Cho San.
Her mother was a geisha too. They both lived in Japan. -
They call me Cho Cho San in Yokohama where I live.
I work in an Okiya as a Geisha every day. -
Imagine me on that secluded beach with swaying palms,
just lolling on the warm sand in two native sheilas’ arms -
All those far-off places haunt me and I can’t elude their call.
Oh, I wish that it were possible once more
