Can it be only eighteen months ago?
It seems as though I've known you all my life -
We talk as old friends do bringing close the empty mile,
I feel so close to her I imagine her fond smile, -
-
She knows the way I feel in every way
I tell her what I think and what I know -
She's mistress of the happy sad
A writer of the rhyming bent -
Her smile never changes although there is pain
blue eyes hold the essence and shine like the rain, -
-
Within the stroke of midnight she sits with pen in hand
For sleep has been forgotten, the night man keeps his sand -
-
You made me learn the way I want to write
So I could help you show what you could do -
-
When first you wrote a Sapphic ode
I smiled and though that you were grand -
Eight months ago Sue Cardwell rhymed at me
She made me smile and want to know her more -
Sue Cardwell the poet makes me smile
With her couplets all rhyming in style -
The poet laureate of Kent Is penning lines to steal my heart

Purest smile of an angel queen

Soft as the kiss of the dew on a cobweb
The words I shall weave to my Sue -
Sue me for love with your kisses,
Pursue our love case non-bailable
