The Pearlcon
• A three free style stanza form
• Stanza one: serves as an orientation [2 – 3 lines]
• Stanza two: poses a question related to the orientation [1 – 2 lines]
• Stanza three: provides an answer in question form with emphasis on a positive outcome [principle or thought; spiritual or non-spiritual] [3 – 4 lines]
• Important:
o the poem must relate nature to the human condition or vice versa
o each stanza must link nature with human nature / condition
o Stanza two and three must portray the human condition within imagery of nature and the final stanza must depict the opposite of nature relating it to a positive outcome [principle of healing]
Example:
Sundown on Smiles
… and within the dusk of nightfall,
twilight seems to weave a collage of despair.
Why then that when the sun fades
smiles enter into sundown?
Is there not the knowing
that within the composition of dawn
Hope has always been there?
