Posted my 1000th poem recently - think I need to clean out some and make room for some more newer ones that are yet to come. Look back on these older ones from two years ago and see how much my style has changed, thanks to being on this site.
I feel the words I write and people have told me they can feel the emotion and passion in my writing, be it prose or poetry. I love to put down my thoughts in poetry, and wrote human interest stories for newspapers. Now that I retired from journalism, I also enjoy writing short stories where there are no deadlines to meet.
The words flow and sometimes they're hard to stop. No longer work at the local paper office so now have more time for all sorts of things - including more poetry writing. We have five grandchildren who also take up my time, but they also inspire some of my poetry. I was a closet poet, as few knew about this side of my writing abilities. Did read my poetry for the first time recently at an open mic and thoroughly enjoyed the feeling. Hope to do more of this reading my poetry in front of a crowd.

G entle soul with a loving heart
R adiant personality that shines through her poem
A lways there to lend a hand

My granddaughter Lady Altheia wrote a poem about me too, and I am so pleased:
The Best Grandmother I Know
Grannyeri is the best grandmother I know.
She took me in and loves me so.
She is thoughtful and kind.
Always has my best interests in mind.
All my grandparents are gone and passed away.
I miss them so much every day.
Then came a shining star,
I opened my eyes and there you are.
No longer blind to the hurt and pain
as love flows like springtime rain.
Since we met, you've always been there.
