As part of promoting the upcoming event, http://de-renaissance-en-nu.org, I decided to put posters in the various cafes and restaurants on Scheveningen Beach.
As I went along, I wrote poems for each of the places that I visited. They were basically a reflection of the people and the places. Some of them were nice - really nice. Others were quite nasty. One piece I actually didn't finish - the first actual deliberate and conscious decision *not* to finish a poem that I've ever made. Or, more specifically, a conscious decision to leave the work, unfinished, as it stood.
I transferred a number of works from my phone to the memory card; the phone ate them. Fortunately, those pieces which are worthwhile were not destroyed, because I had paid special attention to ensuring that they were saved direct to the memory card rather than to the phone.
Those that remain I am delighted with, and I hope that you will be too - especially if you are the owner or work at one of the establishments that I visited and enjoyed your hospitality at.

life in the lane, / is never the game / hard at the plane / is always the same. / yearning for food / placed on the mat / a need to be rude / is never like that. / so pick up the pace / and get out of here

put back the clock, / look not at the time / i'm living the dream / and this place is mine. / a busy way of life / that gets results / that serves the best / and bounces insults / faced with the purpose / of12 lines, 2 comments, on Jul 17 3:08 AM 2007. In Life, The New Renaissance

summer in the afternoon / puts me on the spot / cos i want to be in your lagoon, / lazing away my tiny lot / and lifting spirits or drinks
