In 1987, I was diagnosed with HIV, two years later I stood before an audience at a Candlelight Memorial on World AIDS Day and read the names of seventy-five friends and buddies who had passed away due to complications caused by this virus. 1989 would be the last year I would make such a list, after twenty years of working in the community and living with the virus, it would be too devastating for me at this point to count all the people internationally I have met, worked with and have since left this planet.

Our federal government,
Notably bent: -
And his soul now has become a star
Shining next to the Big Dipper -
you will dance
and drink -
like the many silks
of his skin
