These are poems written about my survival of living with HIV since my diagnoses in 1987.

passing off as one of them
queen bitch flamboyant at night -
-
like the many silks
of his skin -
you will dance
and drink -

-
this war to live
I would just succumb -
I have a right
to my own body: -
They told me as i sat
in the chrome hospital chair -
It's a start to one of those days
A restless evening of night sweats -
-
Our federal government,
Notably bent: -
She sits
hunched over her Singer -
Empty
waiting room, last -
Doctors give you the news with grim stone faces
Every day counts from the moment you exit their office -
This dis-ease rummages through
the body of my soul -
\Have you ever been close to death\?
*I reply:* -
Day has come and day has gone
When one more problem I will shoulder -
I plead my angels -- love is what needs sent
I wish to show someone -- another side -
Over and over I thought, then realized all these years
From the age of twenty-four I have had a life partner -
And wishing one day to hold his manhood hands.
Under the autumn moonlight she tearfully stands: -
I have seen life in a new view
To live my life, not let it stall -
Every morning
I come up from my darkness -
shadows dance
on cracked egg shell walls -
I have heard ambulances and sirens
An no one can give us the answers -
a bloody conspiracy --
destroys every function -
so in my
perdition -
like an epitome

knowledge produces kerfuffles.
Lies overule linkage. -
lullabies me to sleep
till tomorrow -
Above black crows flutter while hawks circle around
Below, little orphans cry, stiffling their sounds -
Kiss the ethereal air
As we connect -
