Personal bio:

How did I come to write?

Something happened during a thunderstorm

in 1956. I ran around the yard singing

my first composed song. I was sure it was

a sign that it was my truest love and would

be the thing I would do best! Then, while

only 11 years of age, I submitted a poem to

my teacher who thought I'd robbed a poetry book

because of its quality.

She 'minused' the "A" grading because of it.

Well.....that did it!

My name was chosen in a literature class when we

learned that many poets wanted their names to

represent their work more than their life's

events. I chose "Cookie" with it being so childlike,

and 'Zeal' to refer to a virtue by which I'd like

to be known. It stuck in 1964 when I was first published.

I give God the glory for the passion

that riveted and took over me, for during

a line of occult encounters, and while reading

"Prison To Praise" in the spring of 1975 ,

an OBVIOUS calling came and I began to believe

that I was no longer god..(grin), and accepted

that I needed salvation through Jesus Christ while

trying to follow His precepts and teachings. I have

a long way to go, but pursue that as my first priority

in life.

I've majored in French, have a minor study in

Music Therapy, Composition, and Business Management.

Professionally, I've managed to enjoy about 17 years

of the entertainment arena when I was a singer

and guitarist in bands. I've done studio work as

well and have had a unique opportunity of winning

studio time in Nashville under the Sue Brewer

Foundation funded by a very generous, but late, Waylon Jennings

and also Willie Nelson. First time, I did fine.

Second time, I bombed!

By my personality type and nature, I have a constant yearn to probe and am a borderline cynic..lol. Therefore, I'm going into my 7th year as a BSF student(Bible Study Fellowship International). This is an in-depth study from the original Hebrew scrolls which historically documents the truth about God's existence, creation, desire for mankind to literally know Him in this life, and the plan of us acquiring salvation through His Son for the Eternal one.

I'm not up on debate here, but since I'm trying to get to my graduate year, I invite anyone, believers and non-believers who want to understand, to ask me anything...anything at all about what the Bible says; this keeps my Apologetics Research sharp as I apply the amazing knowledge which has enhanced my faith. Other than my literary gems,

I think you'd like my cooking; while still a newly wed,

I bought a gourmet cookbook instead of a NORMAL Betty Crocker with average recipes; I was so ignorant, that I didn't know that chicken n'dumplings never had organic herbs. Yes, and I thought Quiche Lorraine was what all Americans ate if they majored in French. Uh-huh-- that means I was making frappes, cakes baked on a barbeque grill when our oven went out, and roast turkey was so sumptuous, that people from everywhere were stopping over in droves. I had to ask their names, because I never heard of them!

Do I Stand Alone?

'Anyone can intellectualize God to his preferred level,

but life isn't our creation to embellish. Our time on

earth without faith in the Sovereign Lord who declared us

HIS with love overflowing from the beginning, is sacrilegious

no matter HOW we refuse to believe.

It imprisons us in the resistance to divine knowledge,

Shrines the golden calf of self,

And perverts our predestination to its Joy!"

Do you have direction?

No one is accidental. As purposeful as

your feet are to stand, is your soul to seek

and experience the power of God, for He

is knowable. He's as much at your feet

as equally holding up the ceiling of heaven.

I am soft but resiliently tough in my many familial

and filial roles:

I'm a daughter,sister,

a wife, Mother, and

Nanah. I am a child of God who

invented me, but know my operation to not

judge. I am nothing better without

those who are appointed in my path, and have

a prayer on my tongue for those who don't know

this life's purpose. ..Oh...And I'm a great

What enables me to critique :

Other than my sketchy higher education, my schools of

critiquing include other forums where there were very exclusive

'line-by-line' or stiff and nitty evaluations as well as returned manuscripts from a hoard of publishers. In my experience before

and after being published, I must admit that I have been hit

hard at times. Whether the staff manufactured their critiquing

or were honestly giving suggestions, I almost always took it,

whether I agreed or not. Fourfold the principles can be summarized.

Here they are!

~~content and balance of attributes to the subject

~~ form to fit the subject need, thus, the body

~~ alliteration to illustrate the subject, were it recited

~~ overall suggestion to the tight and polish of the work, conclusion

meeting the subject gracefully from the beginning of the verse.This will include the idea of shelf life-thinking in terms of how long a poem could be considered a timeless theme or application

Notice what's going on in the world? It's shocking, isn't it?

Do we dare not PRAY? I'd be afraid not to even if I didn't believe.

~~~~~~
But what IS prayer, really? Is it a wish list for Santa? ..Nah!
Prayer is a request of need or plea to God that is thoughtfully or vocally participating in what He lovingly wants to do through you, for you but not without you!" Go ahead. Try it. Unlock the power
that has been given through the Cross. It's as real as it is availble.
I'm sure we need to start with our nation.
2 Chronicles 7:14 encloses this promise:
"
If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray
and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins and heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place.
God ...yes the REAL God said that to His people and through the Bible says this to us.\*
Time is such a free loader.
"The tare is still not binding,
the blood of pain too great
and just as I might try to change
another day-I wait.
In whispers that are creeping
the haunt of much denied
words of the deceiving
beckon as we've cried.
Let's watch for better sunsets
for nights that let us sleep
and in each prayer we'll see again
a promise He will keep."<\i>
Nothing compells like good literature.
It is a net
at sea bringing in the long-searched treasures.
Poetry is that treasure for me. It was placed
in my dance before God planted me in my Mother's
womb and I've been dancing ever since.
About My Critiquing
As a courtesy to those who need a
viewpoint or two from readers, critiquing
is an important ingredient for improvement,
not so much in the way your sacred thoughts
could be written, (as each style has its comfort
zone), but for the clarity of readability.
If you're serious about quality
writing, I owe it to you as a fellow poet!
Once you hear from me in a greeting and check out my page, please let me know what kind of critiquing you expect:
(Level one-General comments and critiques which mildly approach the general pragmatics of improving the overall body.
Level Two-General and specific comments that are diplomatically giving a more intense suggestion and/or rewrite. Sometimes they are reviewed on a line-by-line. Ask me only if you aren't overly sensitive and your ego isn't in the front line. Thank you for your trust(
Around You
Did you hear the Lord in the wind
The voice of the swallow in His call
The thrust of the ocean send
A message to follow with tidal fall?
Did you feel Him put His clouding arms around you
Taste those lips of lily breath;
Join the moon that danced around you
Life that blossoms after death-
Did you, Love, see him reach out in the vineyard
Grapes desperate to burst in your hands
within the night springing toward you
To Love's most perfect joy
Love's most perfect enjoy".
I find significance of character in the written word. It introduces the writer in a way that subjugates other mediums of communication because it won’t go away or fleet at the moment of life's sudden changes. It also carries and credits my influences which have been a herd of past mentors. These include my Father, school teachers, authors, and all those characters placed within my path in high school. Each have their own aura. Now, looking back, they are what instigated the personification of certain others who became my friends. Maybe you can remember certain individuals who sowed in a perception, a precedant to what follows. They played an impressive role in the nuance of other relationships and the written stories which included them.
Written words are not like erroneous and random action, or a song without harmony. They summate the experience which prompted it. Exceptional writing isn't a block of crossed out text. It is the stimuli and closure of what we need in order to think about something which otherwise, could not be expressed. Lastly, revelations are more often found in the staying power of something written rather than the staged rhetoric. I especially feel this way about metered verse.
My poetry may not impress everyone, but much of it will find its way to help develop a reader's third eye, the one that seeks a change and pre-empts complacency.
I hope you find the ardent weaver in at least one of them.
.
this month, I will use lower case letters and keep
very,
very
quiet
while the wind bears my soul
and the Word delivers secrets
when i find out what they
are and am sure about the
Source,
i promise to share them
with anyone who pm's me. i promise i will
also go back to
not being quiet.
The Indellible Inking
If I could profoundly impact the unknown world and its people a specific way, I pray it is through my writing. My singing voice is a different alto from years ago on the stage. My guitar playing may be limited to a certain generation and group of people. My best cooking would need everyone to be present. So let me stay in a permanent realm, preferably underarm by a reader who’ll savor its texts between work, school, and other activities. If anywhere else, placed on someone’s sofa table, hungrily waiting for the next read.
