I love my hockey...I'm Canadian what can I say, heh! This is a chapbook of the history of the Stanley Cup; my favourite hockey team, the Montréal Canadiens (oui, that's the correct spelling); and tribute poems to some of the great players in the League. I would like to do a chapbook of fifty poems, so brace yourself for some history, some humour and meeting some of these players on a compassionate level.
For the second time in the history of the Stanley Cup, since 1892, there will not be a season. 1919: Spanish influenza invades the world! 20 to 40 million are killed worldwide. And for the very first time in history, Stanley stays with the Toronto Arenas. There was a final series, between the Canadiens (who else!) and the Seattle Metropolitans, but did not end after several players are infected with the bug, nope...what ended the series was that a player had died. The Stanley Cup Series was cancelled. But today, over the greed of the green buck, the fans lose out. So this is my therapy!

\1947\: Legal jargon allows the \NHL\ to declare that they know are owners of \Stanley\.
