i've tread the turf of poetry too short a time
to fully comprenhend all that entails
a poem, story or a rhyme
that's better, worse, succeeds or fails;
all i can try to do is see
whether a poem touches me.
in terms of my own verse, i can but say
some think them fine, some wish them thrown away
my boyfriend thinks them too cliche
(-at times, that is; i love him anyway)
but aptitute at writing that that rhymes
comes easily to she who, many times
has wished she lived in other place-
in other time of glove and lace.
