KirkmanShow poetry

Writing poetry is sometimes a great joy, sometimes a great frustration. I always feel bad about those poems that abort for one reason or another. For want of a better name I refer to my poems as "Doodles & Rhyme." In the case of a great many of them, I awake in the night and get them down on paper. If not. they plague me til I finally do get up, or-they are gone as the darkness when I awake. Each one is a new adventure, for one doesn't know where the first line will lead. Sometimes the topics are personal and very deep, at other times what I write is pure fantasy or fiction. Only I know. I never attempt to explain them. I only write'em! A true artist does not explain his work- or cannot. I'm often asked if I write for the reader. The answer is "no." I have no sense of the reader when writing- and would do it if no one else on earth could read.
