When i was 10, in school we were given some creative free time and it was suggested that we write a poem, so i gave it a go which is when i wrote my first ever poem:

Shells
When i went to the beach
I put out my hand to reach
Something special i had found
I held it to my ear and listened to the sound
Being careful not to knock it
I safely placed it in my pocket

Ever since i wrote this, i was then hooked on poetry and actually a few years later won a poetry competition and had it published. From there i entered a few online competitions but it didn't get me anywhere, and that is why i'm so completely happy to find this site as it is very low pressure, but you can pretty much do what you want, read what you want, write what you want, appreciate and be appreciated and meet like minded people.

I went to university for a year studying to be a teacher but i chose the wrong university, and ended up dropping out. May return one year.

I went to Kenya for a month and half climbed mount Kenya, which was an amazing experience which i will look to as inspiration in the future and wish to continue travelling for this purpose.

I am currently working in a garage and doing a part time writing course as well, so am extremely busy, but love checking the site daily all the same. I think i'm addicted.

So in a nut shell that's me. I'm sure i'm more interesting than i've made myself sound here, but hey. Hope you enjoy the poetry and i look forward to seeing your comments and reading yours also.
