I am still sick, along with a couple of my children. So yesterday I baked two 12 inch round cakes to make the first tier of the four tier cake. The edges cracked on one layer, so I 'glued' it with icing, but after three double batches of icing, the sides were still bulging. I had to completely remove the top layer, and throw it out. Now, I have to bake another 12 inch round, plus the other six cakes that make up the top three tiers. 2
In between all that, I have been trying to disinfect the apartment. Using lysol disinfectant wipes to wipe down every surface I can think of that gets touched. Making sure myself, and the two kids are taking meds, washing our hands, drinking fluids, and putting together this cake all at the same time. My main concern is to ensure my hands are clean at all times. I do not want my germs getting on any part of the cake. Ever tried making a cake without breathing on it? Not an easy feat. 3
I was up 'til five thirty this morning trying to salvage that first tier. Eventually, I got so sick to my stomach that I had to go to bed. Woke my son up an hour early to be sure he would get to school, and I got some sleep. I managed about five and a half hours of sleep; restless and barely breathing. 4
It is what it is. I am about to throw another cake in the oven, clean the rest of my apartment, take a long shower, and make dinner. After dinner I will complete the first tier, and possibly the second. We'll see how it goes. I have until Friday evening, or very early Saturday to have it done. Not to mention, I still have to fit my schoolwork in-between all this chaos. I got most of it done Monday, but tomorrow, Friday, and Sunday I have other stuff due. 5
Please, as I always pray for you all, pray for me? I am trying to stay upbeat and positive, but I just stabbed a cake with the spatula I use to ice it...lol. My patience and positive attitude are quickly wearing thin.6
