I think we should collaborate on a poem, Zach!
Well, you would be one among ten, in a community, or you might be solitary, separated from the others. Would you be close to the cross, or closer to the medal of the sacred Heart of Jesus, or Mary, or another Saint? Would you be rolled in the fingers of an old Italian, Irish or Polish woman; or mostly in the drawer of a side table of a dying patient in the hospital? Maybe you'd be passed down through generations, or entwined in the hands of a devout person, laid out at a wake. You'd might spend most of your time in a crowded pouch in their purse. Maybe you would have been blessed by the pope. You might be made of crystal, or glass, or olive wood, clay, or even plastic. You might be white, garnet or aquamarine, or brown. Would you be an Our Father, Hail Mary, or Glory Be? -
