I was harmlessly commenting on a link someone put up on facebook about how constant acess to communication is actually causing depression in teenage girls. The study was done with a group of fourteen year old girls. I commented that fourteen year olds shouldn't even have their own cell phones. I said that teens don't need cell phones until they drive. Before that, if they are going out, a family cell phone can be given to them if needed. The earlier a parent gives their child unlimimited acess to the world, the worse things are going to be. Few parents actually know what their kids are getting into...sexting, texting strangers, meeting those strangers in person. THe other day in the library, I heard two fifteen year old girls talking about meeting people in person that they have met online or texted. They described it as "almost like meeting a celebrity." I guess they forget that any creepy guy can post a picture of his nephew and pretend to be a teenager. And either their parents don't care or they don't care/have time to notice.1
Then, one of the friends of the guys who posted the link started going berserk and started to argue about it. Personally, arguing with someone online that I don't even know does absolutely nothing for me. So I told him that he can have whatever ego boost it is he gets from it. Seriously, what is the point in arguing about something like that when neither side will be swayed? I obviously wasn't going to agree that as he says, "kids need cell phones." Children do not need cell phones. The world has funtioned for many many years without cellphones. And if all the cellphones suddenly stopped working, yes, the world could learn how to function without them again.2
I think people forget that while technology is nice, it is certainly not a necessity. 3
And what in the world has happened to common sense? Why is anyone sending naked pictures of themselves to other people? Why are girls meeting people that they've met online? What's going on here? Sometimes I feel like I've just woken up on another planet. I don't understand people...even people my own age.

There was a news article last week about a teenage boy who beat up his family because they took his cell phone away. I like technology a lot, but I feel like it's taking over people's minds, and people are way too dependent on technology. If there was a really giant power outage, and people's cell phones weren't charged, then they would be helpless, because apparently nobody knows what to do without a cell phone anymore.
I'm still always surprised whenever I see a little kid, like a fifth grader or someone close to that age, with a cell phone because I'm just like oh my goodness, that little kid does not need a cell phone. -

And there was some story about a kid who shot his parents because they took away his video game console. Seriously, our society is going downhill fast. Very little shocks me anymore.

Today has been...trying to say the least...annoying kind of. I decided to be a little less silent about my asexuality. And this guy was making comments about how he and I make love, jokingly I guess. And how he wants us to make love. So I told him it was never going to happen. Then, he told me that we would get marrion Oct 9 4:02 PM, In Mature!. 200 words. → 1 comment, Add one?

I've been thinking about beauty a lot recently. 1 I guess the thought process all began when I went to visit one of my mom's old friends. She hadn't seen me in a long time and when she did, she bluntly said, "You're pretty." And I said, "Thank you." And I couldn't figure out why I had said that. I haven't had the time to write much on here, which is sad because this journal is totally theraputic. 1 Let see...where should I start? 2 I've sort of redeveloped an old crush, but I don't understand my feelings or attractions at all. I can just kind of ignore him and go on with my life. 3 Senior yearon Sep 10 3:23 PM, 500 words. → 2 comments, Add one?

I am really tired. I stayed up too late last night studying. I need to take a nap. But I'm not really supposed to take naps because my doctor says it will screw up my sleep schedule...and keeping a sleep schedule is really important to try to fight fatigue. Well, sleep schedules don't stop or slow the fatigue at all.on Aug 31 4:37 PM, 300 words. → 2 comments, Add one?

Being back at school has really reminded me how much my generation is...awful. This doesn't mean everyone...just quite a few people... 1 Nearly everyone is sex obsessed. Even "good students" are cheating. People you wouldn't even imagine would drink, do. There is a serious lack of work ethic. So many people actuaon Aug 15 8:54 PM, 200 words. → 3 comments, Add one?
