Have you noticed the default backgrounds on journals? Well who decided that? Does anyone really feel like a beige field surrounded by brown sailboats? I know I don't... and yet I still have to choose the black background to represent the way I feel EVERY TIME I PUBLISH ONE... and I hate it. It's more of a peeve than a hate... but still...
I'm not depressed, just amused and realistic.
Please respond as I long for people to be honest, and I'm too drunk to pull punches.
Have a moment with me... I invite you. 1
Imagine this background is black and the font is garamond.2
Thanks.

LOL hey! do I detect sailboats in the back of your pic? Let me expand it to check...

I'll be darned!
Lucky the default isn't this:

(not too far from the sailboats, taste-wise) but yeah, AP isn't known for it's style or taste... in fact I mention this very subject in my next column, my views on approaches to creating art and what to focus on... and I used another poet's paintings as a starting point, having been on that subject with her... too bad my laptop died last night... I'll be winging it here for a week or two...
maybe the sailboats are a conspiracy...

Oh man I really needed that... your message popped up as I submitted a contest and I thought Kevin was fucking with me, no joke. But I saw it was you and laughed. I probably thought that because my friend Kentucky Deluxe is a nut job... he's cheap too... 15 bucks for 1.75 liters lol. Yes... take off all of them! Or at least write them a poem and pine for a while... I know you know what I mean lol.

Hmmmm... Sorry to say, I never noticed! I had to go look at some others and sure enough! There they were. Those offensive little brown sailboats. Bastards! And, ok, so I have to admit, the word garamond threw me through a loop. I may or may not have looked it up in the dictionary. I am not telling! Apparently it is a type of font, which when I reread your journal, I found that you plainly tell us this, I am just kinda dingy when I need to sleep but can't!!! Here is to voting those sailboats off the island!!

Well Kev has his own style, which I respect, but I wish the last setting for bg was used as default as it is in poems... it's a bug, as journals are new and they're still being worked out. With gold membership you get rich text editing, and garamond is my favorite font there. It's clean and elegant to my eye. I
'm a pressman. That means I print newspapers. Fonts and layout are important to me.

We can change them? Or not?
-
-
Yes! Just go to "edit background" under the owner options section below the "owner options" section in the sidebar above the "view options" section. Choose the BG from there.

My bad on the mistype... but you get it, right?

I thought about it the other day. I looked around the sidedebars thinking there would be a way to change journal backgrounds.
I gave up. Sighed. and continued to do what I do best;write. -

Go to "edit background" under the "owner options" menu in the sidebar, above the "view options" menu.

In the opening for yesterday's Simpson's episode, at the part where Homer throws out the glowing uranium stuck in his shirt, the pellet is caught by Otto (the bus driver), who shrugs, makes a non-commital grumt, and eats it. continuing to chill sprawled out on the park bench. So... I'm sweating like a whore in church... like a fat man in a Miata... like a witches titty in a brass bra... like Burt Reynolds upper lip at a moustache convention... but fall starts tomorrow so I refuse to turn on the A.C. So has anyone noticed that A.P has been a relative dead-zone for the past 2 months or so? Rarely have I seen more than 10 of my favorites online at once. I've been on vacation and dealing with some things, so granted I've been absent too, but anyone care to chime in on this? Well... My feelings are too intense to write, and it's driving me nuts. Anyone ever have that problem? There are just too many things to write about and my head is filled to bursting.
