Obama: Conflict of Interest

Barrack Obama has been the office for a little less than 8 months, and people seem to be getting angry because we are criticizing his skills as the leader of our country. Obama is one for trying to solve the turmoil over seas, but what he doesn’t understand is the everlasting effects on the home front. You would think that if we attempted to express our views on the subject that maybe he would listen, and it might possibly influence him, but as of recently I have seen something that I have never seen with a president. The citizens are actually afraid to voice their opinions because of what they have seen happening in politics. Everyone who seems to exert an opinion towards a subject Barrack opposes either gets called a racist or a bigot. 1

What is this country turning into? Is this still the land of the free, or are we speared into an eternal pit of damnation? These words may be a little rough, but in a time like this they need to be expressed. People need to stand up and exercise their freedom of speech. “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” -Voltaire. This is one right that I think we could never do without. Freedom of speech gives us all the power to oppose the government with our individual points of view. If we live in fear then we are falling into the type of absolute control the government. “Fear is Power” This is a quote from the popular novel “1984” by George Orwell. If you haven’t read this you need to, and then you will see why I love the first amendment.
